Glasgow - City of Sculpture
By Gary Nisbet
Jamie Burroughs
(b. 1961)

An English sculptor now resident in Hong Kong, he studied at Wimbledon School of Art.

He co-produced the abstract Surf City in red Dumfriesshire stone, which is sited opposite the Parkhill housing estate on Bilsland Drive, Ruchill, Glasgow (1999).

His collaborator on the sculpture was Lucinda Wilkinson, who won a grant to produce a public art work as part of Glasgow's 1999 City of Architecture festival. Its stone was donated and supplied by Baird & Stevenson of Dumfries.

Despite involving members of the local community in conceiving and building the sculpture, the work has become a target for vandals.
